To attain the dream of free transportation of goods, acceleration of trade/business within the East African Community, there have been noticeable challenges and one of them is poor means of transports between member countries. One part of the Region which has been earmarked by the EAC members is the area between Tanzania and Burundi connected by roads which traverses from Kabingo-KasuluManyovu/Rumonge-Gitaza Road
Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) as an Implementing Agency of The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania received a loan from African Development Bank (AfDB) to support the upgrading of KabingoKasulu-Manyovu Road Section (260.6 KM) to Bitumen Standard.
Tansheq was engaged by Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) to undertake the Baseline Data Collection and Monitoring of the implementation of Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP).
Tansheq developed a comprehensive Community Involvement Plan (CIP) that outlined specific actions and processes in relation to proposed community and stakeholder engagement activities.
Tansheq’s scope of work includes:
To prepare a detailed preproject situational analysis
Develop Lot specific mitigation strategies as guided by the ESMP
Monitor the implementation consolidated ESMPs of the 4 Lots and guide on issues that enhance positive conservation outcome; ecosystem restoration, resource efficiency and livelihood enhance
Monitor the implementation of approved Resettlement Action Plan (RAP)
To undertake external evaluation on the performance of approved ESMP and RAP
To undertake capacity building in Natural Resources conservation and assist the communities in the development of Land Use Plans (LUPs) In this four year project Tansheq plays a critical role in managing environmental and social risks in all four lots of the project
